
Three-year-old Kalani was treated for a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), by Chain of Hope Trustee Professor Victor Tsang and Dr Sherard Little from Bustamante Hospital for Children on our mission to Jamaica in June 2026. A VSD is a hole in the wall between the heart's two lower chambers. This allows blood to flow abnormally through the heart, making it work harder than normal

Soon after his life-saving surgery, he was outside playing with his toy cars and bubbles with medical volunteer nurses Rachael Morrison and Christina Wettig.
Kalani loves to play the drums and ride his bike when he’s not at school enjoying his favourite subjects reading and art. His dream one day is to become a doctor, just like those that have helped mend his little heart.
