Baby Shouq from Syria lives in Zaatari Refugee Camp which is the home of more than 80,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan.

When Chain of Hope learnt that Shouq was suffering because of the heart disease and had a few weeks to live, we successfully lobbied the authorities in Amman to have her mum given the clearance to leave the refugee camp to meet Dr Turrentine and team during our mission so she could have a chance at life.

After a tough few days, Dr Mark Turrentine worked hard to fix Shouq’s heart and within a few days shouq recovered and was able to return to the camp with his mum.
