Chain of Hope is delighted to have 13 amazing runners taking part in this year’s Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on Sunday, 12th October.
Meet our inspiring team of Chain of Hope runners, who have dedicated countless hours to training and fundraising in support of children living with heart disease as they prepare to conquer the 13.1-mile challenge.
The first of our runners is Model, Victoriya, who has a deep passion for the work Chain of Hope does around the world.
“I believe every child deserves the chance to grow up strong and healthy. By supporting Chain of Hope, I hope to help provide vital cardiac care to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to it. Together, we can change lives and bring hope to families around the world.”
Hassan, owner of Unison Investments, has been a long-time supporter of Chain of Hope and has run several Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of our charity. Thank you, Hassan!
Navasuddhan is part of the team at Unison Investments, where he works alongside fellow Chain of Hope runner Hassan who encouraged him to take part in aid of our charity. He’s passionate about our mission and proud to support the cause.
“I believe in their cause of helping children around the world with preventable cardiac conditions. I want to complete the run in two hours 30 minutes”
“I really love what Chain of Hope do and I’d be happy with a time as close to two hours as possible!”
A group of four students at London Imperial College, Gianni Austin, Dameer Ahmed, Sophia Mok and Emil Uddevik, will be running together as a team in aid of our charity.
Gianni is running in honour of his father’s heart transplant and his own recovery from heart conditions. Now studying Biomedical Engineering and passionate about youth outreach - he’s aiming to complete the race in two hours. Dameer sees the half marathon as a chance to get fit while supporting a great cause, with a target time of two hours 10 minutes. Sophia combines her love of running with a commitment to heart health, aiming to finish in one hour 55 minutes. Emil was inspired by meeting Chain of Hope’s founder Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub and witnessing the impact of Chain of Hope’s work firsthand, motivating him to run and support the cause.
Laura who is a teacher, was inspired to run by a talk from a member of the Chain of Hope team.
"My main motivation for running in aid of Chain of Hope was Caitlin Steinke (Operations Manager, International Child Referral Programme) She talks so passionately about the work the charity does, and so I felt inspired by her to do this.
I’m aiming to run in two hours and 20 minutes.”
Dr Richard Bogle is a consultant cardiologist at St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Group and has a meaningful connection with Chain of Hope’s cause.
“I am aware of the charity in my professional work. One of my colleagues is a cardiac physiologist went on a trip to the West Indies a couple of years ago. She shared a lot of information about Chain of Hope. I also know Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub from professional encounters over the years. I like to run for charities which I feel I have a connection with.
I’m aiming to run this half marathon in under 80 minutes!”
Stephen a primary school teacher is hoping to inspire his students by running the half marathon in two hours.
“Young people around the world need access to medical care and unfortunately due to geographical location, political restraints or war many children do not receive the life changing operations they need. Nevertheless, Chain of Hope provides this for many children and their families.
Meena is a pharmacist and has been an admirer of Chain of Hope Founder Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub for a long time, which gave her the inspiration to run in aid of our charity.
“I have been following the work of Sir Magdi Yacoub for the past 10 years and have a shared passion with the organisation to help as many children as possible.
I’ve never been through a physical challenge like this, but I’ve been training since the beginning of the year and hope to complete the half marathon between two-and-a-half to three hours”
Medina is a mother of three and owner of the Medina Coffee Company. Her love for children’s charities has inspired her to run for Chain of Hope.
“I’m a mother of 3 wonderful kids, and as a mother I always support kids philanthropic organisations, that’s why I am running in aid of Chain of Hope. I’m aiming to run the half marathon in two hours 15 minutes!”

We welcome you to join us in supporting all our runners at our Chain of Hope 'cheer point' on Sunday 12th October. Our runners will pass through between 9:30-12:00
