OUR AIMS

Chain of Hope exists to provide children suffering from life-threatening heart disease with the corrective surgery and treatment to which they do not have access. Chain of Hope does this in two ways:

  1. by sending out medical teams to treat children in their own country and by setting up training programmes for local surgeons and medical staff
  2. by bringing children to the UK for operations as an interim measure.

BUILDING THE LINKS THAT SAVE LIVES

It is estimated that as many as 15 million children die or remain severely ill every year through potentially treatable or preventable cardiac diseases.Chain of Hope exists to provide these children with the treatment to which they often simply do not have access. The charity has been helping provide this treatment since 1995 and provides care in two distinct ways:

  1. Bringing children to the UK and Europe for open and closed heart operations
  2. Mobilising volunteer medical teams into developing countries to treat children, whilst stimulating the development of cardiac services for local populations.

Chain of Hope provides teaching and training programmes while developing local infrastructure in countries such as Mozambique, Egypt, Jamaica and Ethiopia. With the guidance of the charity’s Medical Board, Chain of Hope has been saving lives for almost 15 years.
