The Host Family Approval Panel is made up of a diverse group of people with a range of talents and experiences that are relevant to the work of the Chain of Hope. The purpose of the panel is to ensure that the families, who will care for children whilst they are in the UK having surgery, have the necessary qualities for the task. They consider assessment reports for prospective host families that have been completed by qualified and experienced family placement social workers. The panel has a fixed membership of paediatric &cardiac nurses; social workers with professional experience of child and family work; and those who have had personal experience of cardiac surgery and foster care.
