Chain of Hope has been treating young patients from Ethiopia since 2000 by bringing them for surgical treatment in the UK and through our European programme.

In the recent years, Chain of Hope has begun assisting the Ethiopian NGO, the Children's Heart Fund of Ethiopia to set up a cardiac centre of excellence to serve the local population of Ethiopia and surrounding areas.

In January 2009,  Chain of Hope sponsored the equipment of two cardiac operating theatres and a six bed ICU, the Cardiac Centre Ethiopia was opened to coincide with the first Chain of Hope surgical and interventional mission to Addis Ababa, treating a total of  14 patients succesfully.

Together with the Children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia, and alongside other charities including Project Cure and Healing the Children, Chain of Hope has helped develop a programme of teaching and training missions to help treat the children urgently in need as well as develop local personnel. Individuals are brought to Europe and the USA for tailored training programmes.
